Navy Seals!!!

It’s new release Tuesday, and there’s gonna be a nice handful of new DVD and Blu-ray releases. Some you’ve heard of. Some you will you never know about. But I thought I’d list a couple of the flicks you might wanna hit up Blockbuster about.

Too soon?

Fruitvale Station

There was lotsa buzz surrounding this film and the performance of Michael B. Jordan. It follows 22 year old, Oscar Grant the day he was shot and killed by Bay Area Transit Police in 2009. After this movie hits the mainstream audience, I suspect we will all, soon, know the name, Michael Jordan.

Riddick

A make-up sequel for the very forgettable, “The Chronicles of Riddick, this new sequel seems to go back to the same formula that won us over with Pitch Black. Infact, it seems like Riddick is just a reboot of the first film. Either way, it’s one of those movies that probably won’t be anything to call home about, but entertaining enough to watch from your couch.

Lee Daniels’ The Butler

The confusingly titled Forrest Whitaker drama hits the shelves this week just days after the promos for it aired at least 59 times during the Golden Globes. It tells the story of a former plantation worker who served as a butler in the White House for 8 Presidential administrations. And Lee Daniels is the director. Not the name of the butler. I’m not sure why they couldn’t have named the film, Cecil Gaines, The Butler. But, I guess they wanted to capitalize on the popularity of Lee Daniels?

A.C.O.D.

All you need to know about this film is that it stars Adam Scott. And Adam Scott is great.

This movie isn’t exactly breaking the mold of most Hollywood slasher films, but it does enough things differently to make it stand out a little and make it worth a Redbox rental. I’m not sold on the killers’ masks just yet. I can’t decide if it’s silly or stupid. Also seems awfully hot on your face to walk around killing with a mask on. If you think about all the Halloweens you wore a mask, how far could you walk without having to let some air touch your face? No way being a serial killer is comfortable on your body temp.
